In December 2018 we informed residents that we had lodged a development application with Camden Council to modify the intersection of Carden Street and Peter Brock Drive to create a proper right turn bay within the Peter Brock Drive median strip which would improve the safety of the intersection.
Camden Council have assessed our application and following advice from the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) and feedback from residents, Council have made the decision to close the median strip on Peter Brock Drive at Carden Street.
This closure will result in a left-in, left-out movement only at the intersection. Residents living to the north west of the town centre will be able to turn right towards The Northern Road at the South Circuit / Peter Brock Drive intersection (near the school). In addition, once the RMS complete works on The Northern Road, it will allow us to complete the Dick Johnson Drive / The Northern Road intersection which will provide another access for residents.
As we highlighted in our previous communication with residents, Camden Council ultimately decide on the most suitable treatment for the intersection and on this occasion Council felt that it would be safer to close the median strip altogether.
Work will commence on 5 July and is expected to be completed by mid August subject to weather. Traffic Management will be in place throughout the duration of works and we ask residents to be mindful of the changed traffic conditions whilst these works are underway.
