Live Community News Part of Temporary Park to become permanent

16 April 2024

As the name suggests, the temporary park located opposite the Sales Office between Peter Brock Drive and Moffat Street, was established as a temporary open space for the first display village which opened in 2010.  It was always intended that we keep the temporary park while the first display village was operational and until such time as the town park, now known as Perich Park, was developed.

With the temporary park’s proximity to the town centre, the site was from the beginning earmarked for medium density housing.

The temporary park has been well used over the years and the park design has stood the test of time.  The landscaping is now well established and with the park looking so good, we are happy to announce that we have made the decision to retain a portion of the park on a permanent basis.

Site plan

As such, a 3,000m2 portion of the temporary park will be converted to a permanent park.  The section will include the seating area, play equipment and established gardens.

We currently have a proposal in with Council to name the park Neville Beyer Park in recognition of the former Oran Park Raceway Circuit Chief Official and author of the book, “A History of Oran Park Circuit”.

The remaining 1743m2 will be developed into medium density housing in keeping with the original plans for this site.

We now have approvals in place to start construction on 8 high quality terrace homes with 2 studio dwellings at the eastern end of the temporary park, opposite the child care centre. Land preparation works and servicing is planned to commence in April 2024.

As a result of this work the construction site will be fenced off and secured for safety reasons. There will also be a small portion of the retained park that will need to be used temporarily as part of the construction of services for the new homes. This area will be restored once works have been completed.

The construction of the terrace homes and land development works will take approximately 12 – 15 months to complete.

Render of future terrace homes

Whilst there may be some minor disruptions during this construction period, we believe this is a good long-term outcome with the community being able to continue to enjoy this open space for years to come.
